The Canadian Government requires all boaters to carry proof of competency while operating a powered watercraft. This is proof that the boater has a basic level of knowledge required for safe recreational boating. The most common form of this proof is the Pleasure Craft Operator Card. To obtain the Pleasure Craft Operator Card, you may consult with a Transport Canada accredited course provider, found on Transport Canada’s website.
